Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox is a popular team of Major League Baseball that is based in the Chicago, Illiniois. The team took its name from the White stockings that the players wear while in field. The White Sox have an attractive logo that is ‘Sox' written in the black ink with ‘O' connected to the tail of the S and the X hanging off the O. There is a silver outline throughout the logo. They are the current World Series champions, and are managed by former team shortstop Ozzie Guillén. The team came into existence in 1901. The White Sox have captivated the only one League Championship since 1920 to 2004. In 2005 they captivated the first World Championship after 1917. The team has achieved the all-time regular season records from 1901-2005 is that they have 8210 won - 8020 lost - 101 tied - 3 no-decision. The general manager Ken Williams vowed to change the makeup of the team from one that relies on the home run to one that has good pitching and defense.

Outfielder Carlos Lee and center fielder Scott Podsednik were traded by the team and they included the Jermaine Dye outfielder and former Yankee pitcher Orlando Hermandez to complete a rotation that included Freddy Garcia, Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras and Jon Garland. Additionally, former Minnesota Twin and San Francisco Giant A.J. Pierzynski were also made a part of the team in 2004. The combination of the league's best record with the American League victory in the All-Star Game gave the White Sox the home field advantage throughout the 2005 post-season; perhaps unnecessary as the White Sox won every post-season road game they played in 2005. By the end of the 2005 season, most of their starting pitchers had their careers changed. The team has captivated the total of 8210 winning games, lost 8020 and just 3 matches got tied or draw. The team is expected to undergo various renovations those are expected to end after the 2006 season. The fans and team members all suppose to see the best result as they have expert players like Javier Vazquez, pitcher Orlando Hernandez, Mark Buehrle, Cuba José Contreras, Freddy García, Jon Garland. The White Sox entered 2006 with a very good record of 16 wins in their last 17 games. They also are coming off a Cactus League record with a high home attendance spanning over 15 games in 2005. The Southern League named 1B Casey Rogowski and OF Jerry Owens to the 2005 Year End All-Star Team for the Class AA Birmingham Barons.

In the year 2000, the White Sox boasted of one of their best teams since the 1983 club, though much was not expected from the team. However, the White Sox led the division in early June. The lead proved to be good enough and the Sox captured the AL Central Division title 95-67 record, despite of mediocre pitching staff led by Mike Sirotka. The team could not carry success into the postseason, and were bested by the wild-card Seattle Mariners in 3 games in the AL Division Series round. Chicago always has been a city of contrasts. It is a business center, with a varied, inspiring economy. It is also a tourism center, with world-renowned shopping, dining, museums, architecture, theater, music and more. Chicago is an exciting, international city with a friendly Midwestern outlook. The high-class architecture, smooth jazz and raw blues, lakeside food festivals, cutting-edge galleries, innovative theater, cocktails at Al Capone’s favorite nightclub are quintessential to the city. Chicago is the third largest city of the United States. The city when combined with its suburbs and eight collar counties forms the greater metropolitan area known as Chicagoland; and when Chicago and Chicagoland are combined with the greater Milwaukee region, is considered a megacity or megalopolis.
